Indra's Net

The Net of Indra is a profound and subtle metaphor for the structure of reality.  Imagine a vast net; at each crossing point there is a jewel; each jewel is perfectly clear and reflects all the other jewels in the net, the way two mirrors placed opposite each other will reflect an image ad infinitum.… Every jewel is intimately connected with all other jewels in the universe, and a change in one jewel means a change, however slight, in every other jewel…. Once, when someone praised Gandhi for his compassionate politics, he answered, “I am here to serve no one else but myself, to find my own self realization through the service of others.”

Although I have never heard of it referred this way, I must say that I relate to this metaphor for the structure of reality. I am a strong believer that we are projections of our surroundings, but unlike with a net where we are bound in our positions, I believe, with self-realization, we can control what we reflect. Similarly to how the Law of Attraction works, by merely realizing what we want to reflect unto the world, we begin moving along the “net.” Hope this makes sense!
