It reminds me of the time
I was gushing over someone else's things
and he admonished me.
It was the first time
I saw myself differently than I am.
It was the beginning of real growth,
observing myself from the outside
It hurt, of course,
admonition always does,
growth always does
but once you’re secure, on the other side
