after our father died
we were contacted by a man
who was saddened to have missed him
he wanted to thank him, he said
because our father helped change his
son’s life forever
as a youth, the boy was lost
his parents were desperate to help him
but were equally bewildered
until our father suggested reading books
and gave him some fine selections
which turned out to be the answer
the son did well in life
and the man attributed much of his son’s
success to our father’s having saved him
the faith one man placed
in our father
saved his son
a story like that would have pleased dad
